Publisher's Letter
For the third year, we salute the Fast Tech 50 -- Houston's fastest-growing technology-based companies.
Technology in Houston is alive and well. As in previous years, companies not only represent the typical technology fields, but also the technical side of industries such as accounting, security, health care, real estate, communications and energy.
The Fast Tech 50 program recognizes some of the most active players in the high-tech industry. In addition, a survey of the list will acquaint business owners and managers in all industry segments with technology developments that they may be able to incorporate to benefit their companies. Readers who are in a position to support developing technologies and fast-growing enterprises also will be interested in learning which companies are on the list.
The program's success is shown by the large number of companies that were nominated for this year's list -- 235. It is also noteworthy that 24 companies appear on the list for the first time, 19 are on it for the second year and seven companies for all three years.
The companies on the list are only the tip of Houston's high-tech iceberg. We salute the many companies who did not make the list, but who join the winners in making a contribution by providing employment and serving the technology needs of all sectors.
The Fast Tech 50 are honored at a high-tech themed luncheon held in their honor Friday, Nov. 7, at the Westin Galleria. Special thanks to title sponsor PKF Texas, which compiled the list, and co-sponsors Administaff, Frost Bank, Jackson Walker LLP, Pierpont Communications, Houston Technology Center and the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship.
Thanks to the HBJ staff members who assisted with the Fast Tech 50 program and production of the list and special section. We also appreciate the industry professionals who have contributed to this section.
It's clear that the Fast Tech 50 is becoming an annual tradition in Houston.
